Behavior & Aggression| $5,900|6 weeks

As a specialist in dog behavior we can help with issues such as resource guarding, seperation anxiety, dog aggression, reactivity and more. Working with dogs who exhibit these behaviors VERY different then working with a dog who just needs help with basic commands. It requires intense training that involves teaching your dog new behaviors while getting rid of the old, unwanted ones. Each dog is different in their outcome as each dog needs their own amount of time to learn and has different limitations and abilities. At a minimum, our goal is to teach your dog how to properly exist around other dogs and people in real world environments. Each dog has a different training journey, it is our duty to give you an honest assessment during and after your dog completes our board and train program. All board and trains include a mid-board and train check-in that is offerd in-person, through zoom or over the phone along with a go home transition session(booked at time of drop off). Beyond Training

No reputable dog professional can or should "guarantee" results; dogs are living creatures. We do though "certify" our results - we will support you and your dog for their lifetime relating to the skills or behaviors worked on and achieved in board and train.

In training, we consider all aspects of you and your dog's lives when evaluating concerns and developing training plans. Our training includes not only clear instruction for effective behavior change and development; we also incorporate meaningful enrichment, appropriate exercise, and stress management in every training plan for optimization.

We strategically use food and toys to reinforce behavior*. Our training breaks behaviors down to a level your dog can efficiently learn and grow from. Reeds K9 Training programs are tailored to each client's specific desires in training methods and goals. We are passionate about continuing our education in the most up to date, progressive practices in the training and husbandry fields. We are excited to help you and your dog excel!

*Our approach to behavior concerns follows the flow of:

1. Medical/Wellness

2. Lifestyle/Enrichment

3. Management

4. Positive Reinforcement

5. Negative Punishment

6. Negative Reinforcement

7. Positive Punishment

8.Reevaluate behavior concerns and goals; possibly advise a consultation with a behavior veterinarian

Some to most dogs' training plans will not go beyond this point. Reeds K9 Training may consider aversive tools (prong or electronic training collar) ONLY for specific training situations. We consider the dogs' overall risk, realistic goals, cognitive ability, and potential for psychological fallout before making any recommendations to move to other training methods beyond this point. We are also happy to never include the following methods in training and simply work with the previous 6 steps. We never implore a client to use aversive training though we may explain that with a client's goals and timeline, the options may be to either reduce expectations/increase timeline or incorporate aversive training for some behaviors (with limits).

We understand that dogs and clients live in the real world with real world behavior complications. While all behaviors can be taught with treats and toys and a client's training plan can include exclusively positive reinforcement methods, our over arching mission is to successfully achieve clients' goals with their dogs with the responsible use of any training method used. After thorough conversation with a client, if it is determined that the use of a prong or electronic training collar would aid a client in their particular situation, we will include such tools in the training plan with owner consent.
